Details Emerge on Trump Rally Attack in Butler
On July 13, an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries. Text messages reveal that local emergency services were severely understaffed, and a critical communication breakdown occurred between the SWAT team and the Secret Service. Beaver County SWAT sniper Gregory Nicol identified the shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, as suspicious hours before the attack, but the lack of coordination hindered effective response. The shooting resulted in the death of former fire chief Corey Comperatore and injuries to two other spectators. Trump, who was grazed by a bullet, has vowed to return to Butler for another rally in honor of the victims. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle has resigned amid the fallout from the security failures, and multiple investigations are underway.
