Tebogo Wins 200m Gold, Lyles Takes Bronze
American sprinter Noah Lyles revealed he tested positive for COVID-19 two days before placing third in the Olympic 200-meter race. Despite his illness, Lyles ran a time of 19.70 seconds, finishing behind Botswana's Letsile Tebogo and fellow American Kenneth Bednarek. After the race, Lyles collapsed and was assisted by medics, later explaining that he experienced shortness of breath and chest pains. He moved to a hotel to isolate and took medication under medical supervision but decided to compete in his signature event despite his condition. Lyles expressed that his performance was significantly affected by the illness but remained proud of earning the bronze medal. He also indicated uncertainty about participating in the upcoming men's 4x100-meter relay.
