Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra secured a second-place finish at the Lausanne Diamond League with a season-best throw of 89.49m, trailing Grenada's Anderson Peters who won with a throw of 90.61m. This comes two weeks after Chopra won a silver medal at the Paris Olympics with an 89.45m throw, despite nursing a persistent groin injury. Throughout the Lausanne event, Chopra overcame initial standings to make his mark with his final two throws. He had previously hinted at taking a break due to his injury but decided to compete and defer treatment until the season's end. Currently ranked fourth in the Diamond League standings, Chopra aims to qualify for the season finale in Brussels on September 14. The absence of his Olympic rival, Arshad Nadeem, marked this competition, but it still featured a strong field including Jakub Vadlejch and Julian Weber.
