Aston Villa have signed Dutch left-back Ian Maatsen from Chelsea for a fee believed to be around £37.5 million. Maatsen, 22, who impressed last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund by helping them reach the Champions League final, becomes Villa's second signing of the summer. He has signed a six-year deal with Villa and is currently with the Netherlands national team at Euro 2024. Despite Dortmund’s interest in re-signing him, Villa’s Champions League qualification played a crucial role in securing his transfer. Meanwhile, Chelsea have also confirmed the permanent transfer of Morocco winger Hakim Ziyech to Galatasaray.
