Shirley Chung cancer diagnosis

Shirley Chung, a celebrated chef and former contestant on Bravo's 'Top Chef,' has revealed her diagnosis of Stage 4 tongue cancer. Following a series of dental issues, a hidden tumor was found beneath her tongue during a routine examination in May 2023. In response to the diagnosis, Chung has opted for a treatment plan involving radiation and chemotherapy instead of the initially suggested complete removal of her tongue. The culinary community, including fellow 'Top Chef' contestants, has shown immense support, with many sending heartfelt messages and encouragement through social media. Chung's restaurant, Ms. Chi Cafe, will close next month as she focuses on her treatment. Despite the challenges, she remains positive and determined, stating, "Higher survival rate, or keep my tongue? I chose to keep my tongue."
