Hong Kong Activist Faces Life Sentence

Hong Kong activist Chan Po-ying, the wife of Leung Kwok-hung, continued to fight for democracy following her husband's arrest in 2021. Both were arrested and charged with subversion under China's national security law. Chan continued to advocate for basic human rights and pro-democracy activism. Leung and 13 others were convicted, with the possibility of life in jail, while two were found not guilty.
