FBI Raids Specialty Towing in Fraud Probe

The FBI raided San Francisco's Specialty Towing and associated businesses on Thursday morning as part of an ongoing federal investigation into insurance fraud and money laundering. The owners, Jose Vicente Badillo and Abigail Fuentes, along with Jessica Elizabeth Najarro, are charged with submitting fraudulent insurance claims and laundering the proceeds. The businesses under scrutiny include Auto Towing, Jose’s Towing, and Specialty Towing and Recovery, which collectively generated over $2 million annually. Earlier, San Francisco City Attorney David Chiu had barred these companies from city contracts for five years due to illegal towing practices and welfare fraud allegations. The FBI operation involved multiple locations and resulted in the seizure of evidence, including keys and key fobs. Both Badillo and Fuentes were previously involved in multiple felonies related to a welfare fraud scheme.
