Carlton 'Bub' Carrington Drafted 14th Overall by Washington Wizards After Trade
Carlton 'Bub' Carrington, an 18-year-old point guard from the University of Pittsburgh, was selected 14th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft by the Washington Wizards following a trade with the Portland Trail Blazers. Carrington, who played just one season at Pitt, averaged 13.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. Despite initial projections that he would need more time at Pitt, his rapid development and standout performances at the draft combine boosted his draft stock. He is the first Pitt player drafted in the first round since Steven Adams in 2013 and the first from St. Frances Academy since Mark Karcher in 2000. Carrington, who is close to NBA veterans like Carmelo Anthony and Rudy Gay, is expected to need a couple of years to make a significant impact in the NBA.
