United States Beats Czechia in World Juniors Shootout
The United States defeated Slovakia 10-2 in a world junior hockey championship match, Michigan forward Rutger McGroarty had a hat trick and Michigan State's Trey Augustine made 38 saves. In a separate game, Isaac Howard of Michigan State scored the game-winning goal for the U.S. National Junior Team in a 4-3 shootout victory over Czechia. The U.S. team was challenged for the first time in three games and the game went to a five-round shootout to decide the winner. Sweden also posted its third straight shutout with a 2-0 win over Canada. Isaac Howard scored twice in the game while teammate Jacob Fowler had 20 saves in the victory for the U.S. Team.
