Zach Eflin Placed on 15-Day Injured List

The Baltimore Orioles have placed right-hander Zach Eflin on the 15-day injured list due to right shoulder inflammation after four standout starts, where he posted a 2.13 ERA since his acquisition from the Tampa Bay Rays. Manager Brandon Hyde expressed hope that Eflin would only require a minimum stint on the injured list. To compensate, the Orioles have recalled rookie left-hander Cade Povich from Triple-A Norfolk. The Orioles have been plagued with pitching injuries this season, with Eflin joining Kyle Bradish, Grayson Rodriguez, John Means, and Tyler Wells on the injured list. Despite these setbacks, Baltimore remains competitive, entering Tuesday just a half game behind the New York Yankees in the AL East race. The team is yet to announce who will take Eflin's scheduled start against the New York Mets.
