GOP States Sue Biden Over Immigration Program

A coalition of 16 Republican-led states, spearheaded by Texas, has filed a lawsuit to block President Joe Biden’s 'Keeping Families Together' program, which provides a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants married to U.S. citizens. This initiative, announced in June, allows eligible spouses to apply for 'parole in place,' granting them temporary legal status and the ability to apply for a green card without leaving the U.S. The plaintiffs argue that the program bypasses Congress, violates the Constitution, and unlawfully expands executive power. The Department of Homeland Security defends the program, stating it promotes family unity and national security. Critics, however, label it as amnesty and a misuse of parole authority, emphasizing the potential for increased illegal immigration and marriage fraud.
