ECoR solar power plants

The East Coast Railway (ECoR) plans to install solar power plants with a capacity of 21,826 KWp across 149 station buildings, 248 service buildings, 6,924 residential buildings, and 366 level crossing gates, aiming for significant energy savings of approximately Rs 14 crore and Rs 91.41 lakh from carbon credits. The initiative aligns with Indian Railways' commitment to green energy and sustainability. Tenders worth Rs 83.79 crore have been issued for the project, which includes rooftop solar installations in various locations. Previous installations at major stations and service buildings, such as the Rail Sadan at Chandrasekharpur, have already contributed to energy needs. This move is expected to enhance energy efficiency and reduce the railway's carbon footprint.
