Dr. David Hogbin, a 40-year-old father of three from Newcastle, Australia, was killed by a crocodile during a family holiday in Queensland after a riverbank collapsed, causing him to fall into the Annan River. Despite his wife's attempt to rescue him, Hogbin heroically let go of her arm to save her from slipping into the water, resulting in his fatal attack by a 16-foot crocodile. Wildlife rangers later euthanized the crocodile and found human remains believed to be Hogbin's. The tragic incident occurred in front of his wife but was not witnessed by their young children. Hogbin is remembered for his final act of selflessness and dedication to his family.
