This bid follows Colorado's successful hosting of the Sundance Institute's 2024 Directors Lab in Estes Park. The move is expected to generate significant economic benefits, including an estimated $5 million in annual net sales tax revenue and $30 to $50 million in spillover benefits. The festival, which contributed over $118 million to Utah's economy in 2023, could also create hundreds of jobs and attract thousands of visitors to Boulder. Colorado's film and tourism officials have expressed optimism that their state's commitment to the arts and its iconic Rocky Mountain backdrop will support the festival's continued success.
