IMD Issues Alerts Amid Severe Rains in India
Heavy rains have severely impacted several regions across India, causing significant disruptions and triggering alerts from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Hyderabad faced intense rainfall resulting in waterlogging, traffic jams, and two lightning-related fatalities. The IMD issued a yellow alert for Hyderabad and surrounding districts, forecasting thunderstorms and strong winds. Kerala's Wayanad and Kozhikode districts received orange alerts due to expected heavy rainfall and potential flash floods, while similar alerts were issued for parts of Himachal Pradesh and Goa. Additionally, Mumbai and Gurgaon saw moderate rainfall causing traffic delays, with yellow alerts issued for further rain. The adverse weather conditions have also impacted infrastructure, such as water leakage at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.
