German Marquez Placed on Injured List
The Colorado Rockies placed right-hander German Marquez on the 15-day injured list due to right elbow inflammation, just one start after his return from Tommy John surgery. Marquez, who pitched four innings against the New York Mets on July 14, showed discomfort during training sessions following the All-Star break, prompting concerns from both him and the coaching staff. Manager Bud Black indicated that the decision to place Marquez on the injured list was a precautionary measure, hoping he will return in a couple of weeks. In a corresponding move, the Rockies recalled Noah Davis from Triple-A Albuquerque to fill Marquez's spot in the rotation. This marks a setback for Marquez, who recently broke the franchise's career strikeout record, and has been a key player for the Rockies over his nine-year career. The Rockies also expect to activate first baseman/outfielder Kris Bryant from the injured list soon.
