Supreme Court Probes Doctor's Murder at Kolkata Hospital

The tragic rape and murder of a junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College have led to a series of administrative changes and investigations. Following massive protests, the West Bengal government replaced multiple officials, including principals Sandip Ghosh and Suhrita Paul. Ghosh, accused of corruption and illegal activities like body trafficking and biomedical waste trading, is under CBI interrogation and facing scrutiny from a special investigation team (SIT) for financial misconduct. The Supreme Court has criticized the procedural flaws in the state police's investigation and has mandated the CBI to submit a detailed status report. The main accused, Sanjay Roy, has consented to a polygraph test as part of the ongoing investigation. The Enforcement Directorate may also initiate a money-laundering probe against Ghosh based on the FIR filed by the Kolkata Police.
