The Hard Quartet

Stephen Malkmus, known for his work with Pavement, has formed a new supergroup called The Hard Quartet, alongside Emmett Kelly, Matt Sweeney, and Jim White. They recently released their debut single 'Earth Hater', characterized as a broody indie-rock track with psychedelic influences, complemented by a claymation music video that serves as a cautionary tale against littering. The band is set to perform their first shows in October 2024, with concerts scheduled in Los Angeles, New York, and London. Each member brings notable experience from their previous projects, positioning the group as a fresh but familiar addition to the alt-rock scene. Malkmus expressed optimism about the band's future, suggesting that their collaboration could continue to evolve positively. The Hard Quartet is also expected to tour extensively in 2025.
