NH AG Challenges MA Gun Laws in Court
New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella has filed a brief with the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court challenging the state's restrictive gun laws. The brief supports a Lowell District Court ruling that found Massachusetts laws requiring out-of-state gun owners to have a local license unconstitutional. This challenge stems from cases involving two New Hampshire residents charged with carrying firearms without Massachusetts licenses. Formella argues that such laws infringe upon the Second Amendment rights of responsible gun owners and asserts that constitutional freedoms should not be undermined by state-specific, overly burdensome regulations. The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court will review the case on September 9th. Formella emphasizes that the right to self-defense should not be restricted by crossing state borders.
