Robert Downey Jr. Returns as Doctor Doom

Robert Downey Jr. is set to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as both Doctor Doom in upcoming 'Avengers' films and as Tony Stark/Iron Man in new Disney Parks attractions at Avengers Campus in Disneyland. The attractions include 'Avengers: Infinity Defense' and 'Stark Flight Lab,' although the exact release date for the latter is yet to be announced. Initially, Downey was approached to cameo as Iron Man in 'Deadpool & Wolverine,' but plans changed when it was revealed he would be portraying Doctor Doom instead. Screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese expressed their disappointment, noting that Downey had considered the cameo before committing to the villain role. They aimed to have a scene featuring both Downey and Jon Favreau's Happy Hogan, but Marvel's plans for Downey complicated the potential cameo. Ultimately, his return as Iron Man will be showcased in the new Disney attraction, allowing fans to experience the character in a fresh setting.
