Michelle Bond Indicted for Campaign Finance Violations

Michelle Bond, a former congressional candidate and ex-SEC lawyer, has been indicted for illegally accepting campaign contributions during her 2022 campaign, primarily sourced from her partner, former FTX executive Ryan Salame. Bond faces multiple charges for violating campaign finance laws, with allegations that she used $400,000 from FTX to fund her campaign. Salame, who pleaded guilty to campaign finance violations and other crimes, claims that his plea deal included a provision to protect Bond from further investigation, which he argues the government has breached. Salame is now seeking to void his guilty plea or enforce the original agreement to cease the investigation into Bond. Federal prosecutors, however, deny any wrongdoing, insisting that Salame was aware his plea would not halt the investigation into Bond. A judge has scheduled a hearing to address these issues next month.
