Converse is set to launch the Shai Weapon, a new colorway inspired by NBA star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's vintage aesthetic, on August 14, 2024. This sneaker features a vintage white premium leather upper with cracked 'Winsome Orchid' underlays and a pre-yellowed outsole, designed to evoke the feel of thrifted classics. Gilgeous-Alexander, who became Converse's creative director for basketball effective September 2024, previously led the brand's 'Create History, Not Hype' campaign and is expected to influence future designs. The Shai Weapon pays homage to the original 1980s Converse Weapon, which has seen a resurgence since its reintroduction in 2021.
