Six Sentenced to Life in Ajmer Sex Scandal
A POCSO court in Jaipur has sentenced six men to life imprisonment for their involvement in the infamous Ajmer sex scandal that surfaced in 1992. The convicted individuals, Nafees Chishti, Naseem alias Tarzan, Salim Chishti, Iqbal Bhati, Sohail Gani, and Sayed Zameer Hussain, were found guilty of raping and blackmailing over 100 school and college girls aged between 11 and 20 years. The court also imposed a fine of ₹5 lakh on each convict. This case involved a total of 18 accused, with previous sentences handed down to other individuals, including life sentences and acquittals. One accused, Almas, remains at large, and another, Jahur Chishti, was found guilty under Section 377, leading to a separate trial. The victims were lured to a farmhouse where they were raped and photographed in compromising situations to facilitate blackmail.
