Helicopter Crashes in Kamchatka, All 22 Dead

A Russian Mi-8T helicopter carrying 22 people, including 19 tourists and three crew members, crashed near the Vachkazhets volcano in the Kamchatka Peninsula. The crash resulted in the death of all aboard, with 17 bodies recovered by Sunday evening. The helicopter, owned by Vityaz-Aero, is believed to have crashed due to pilot error influenced by poor visibility conditions including fog and rain. The wreckage was found at an altitude of 900 meters in a forested slope, making the search and rescue operation challenging. Kamchatka has declared a day of mourning, and an investigation into the crash is ongoing.
