Eight Railway Stations Renamed in Uttar Pradesh

The Northern Railways has officially renamed eight railway stations in the Lucknow division of Uttar Pradesh, reflecting local cultural and historical significance. The stations have been renamed after saints and freedom fighters, including Kasimpur Halt to Jais City and Jais to Guru Gorakhnath Dham. Former Amethi MP Smriti Irani advocated for these changes, emphasizing the preservation of cultural identity. However, the renaming initiative has drawn criticism from Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, who urged the BJP government to focus on improving the conditions of railway stations and preventing accidents. The renaming was delayed due to the model code of conduct during Lok Sabha elections but has now been implemented.
