Supreme Court Hosts 'Laapataa Ladies' Screening
The Supreme Court of India hosted a special screening of the film 'Laapataa Ladies,' directed by Kiran Rao and produced by Aamir Khan, as part of its 75th-anniversary celebrations. The event, aimed at promoting gender equality, was attended by Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud, other judges, their spouses, and registry officials. The initiative, part of a year-round gender sensitization program, included an interaction session with Rao and Khan. The film, which tells the story of two women finding themselves, received widespread acclaim both in theaters and on OTT platforms. It marks a unique intersection of the judiciary and cinema, underscored by the CJI's efforts to integrate social issues into the court's activities.
