UNC Student Karsen Kitchen Reaches Space
Blue Origin achieved a significant milestone in space tourism with the successful launch of its NS-26 mission, which included Karsen Kitchen, the youngest woman to travel beyond the Karman Line. The mission marked Blue Origin's eighth human spaceflight and featured six passengers experiencing weightlessness and the sight of Earth's curvature. Kitchen, a 21-year-old senior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and former Blue Origin intern, joins a list of notable passengers in Blue Origin's suborbital space tourism endeavors. This flight underscores Blue Origin's ongoing efforts to democratize space travel and inspire the next generation. Additionally, Katya Echazarreta, the first Mexican-born woman to go to space, visited Parlier, California, to encourage students by sharing her experiences and achievements in space travel.
