A body was discovered in a shopping cart and set on fire near the Oak Street Bridge, which borders Yonkers and Mount Vernon, around 2 a.m. on Monday. Initial reports suggested the body was dismembered, but police have not confirmed this due to the condition of the remains after the fire. The Yonkers Police Department, in conjunction with the Westchester County Medical Examiner’s Office, is conducting a death investigation to determine the cause of death and the identity of the victim. Emergency services were deployed to collect evidence at the scene, which was described as a complex jurisdictional area. Authorities are still investigating whether the victim was killed at the location or moved there post-mortem. As of now, details regarding the victim's age, gender, and race remain unknown.
