ECI Sets Up Special Polling Stations for Kashmiri Migrants

To facilitate voting for Kashmiri migrants in the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Election 2024, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has established 24 special polling stations across Jammu, Udhampur, and New Delhi. For those residing in Jammu and Udhampur, the ECI has eliminated the requirement to fill Form-M, streamlining the voting process. Migrants outside these areas must still submit Form-M but can now self-attest the accompanying certificate, removing the need for gazetted officer verification. The polling stations include 19 locations in Jammu, 1 in Udhampur, and 4 in Delhi, allowing migrants to vote in person via Electronic Voting Machines. This decision reflects a significant step towards easing the voting process for displaced residents of the Kashmir Valley.
