Red Alerts for Heavy Rain Across Multiple States
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red alerts for extremely heavy rainfall across various regions of India, including Telangana, Karnataka, Odisha, and Kerala. Kerala, in particular, faces significant disruptions with red alerts in Wayanad and Kannur, leading to school closures, flooding, and landslides. Over 60,000 people in Kerala have been moved to relief camps, and the Central Water Commission has warned of dangerous rises in river levels. The IMD forecasts heavy rainfall across several other states such as Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, with alerts ranging from yellow to orange. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been deployed and fishermen have been advised against venturing into the sea due to turbulent conditions. Residents are advised to stay updated and take necessary precautions amidst these severe weather conditions.
