Burglars Steal Memorabilia from Rick Pitino's Office

The office of Rick Pitino, head coach of St. John's University, was burglarized on Tuesday evening, with thieves stealing memorabilia valued at approximately $375, including a ceremonial sword, a bullhorn, and a signed basketball. The incident occurred around 6 p.m. at Carnesecca Arena, and surveillance footage shows the two suspects leaving the scene on a moped. Despite the theft, Pitino humorously commented that an expensive bottle of wine was also taken, though he clarified it was not kept on his desk. St. John's has shared the surveillance footage with the NYPD, who are investigating the incident. Pitino, a Hall of Fame coach previously with Kentucky and Louisville, is entering his second season with St. John's, which seeks to restore its basketball program's former glory. The police are asking for public assistance in identifying the suspects through the released footage.
