Severe Flooding and Landslides Wreak Havoc in South Asia

Nepal and northern India are experiencing devastating impacts from torrential rains and landslides. In Nepal, landslides during the monsoon season have killed thousands and caused significant economic damage, exemplified by a recent incident where two buses were swept into the Trishuli River, resulting in 24 confirmed deaths and 27 missing. Similarly, in northern India, heavy rains have led to widespread destruction, with Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh being the hardest hit. Cloudbursts and flash floods in these regions have resulted in numerous fatalities and left many stranded or missing. Rescue operations are ongoing, with personnel from various disaster response forces deployed, and advisories issued to postpone travel to affected areas.
