Chris Smalling Joins Al-Fayha from Roma

Chris Smalling, the former England and Manchester United defender, is set to join Saudi Pro League club Al-Fayha after five seasons with AS Roma. Following a Serie A match against Juventus, Smalling will undergo a medical examination in Rome and is expected to sign a contract lasting until June 2026. His departure comes after a challenging season plagued by injuries, limiting his appearances to just 12 last year. Roma has already secured a replacement for Smalling, signing Mario Hermoso on a free transfer and is also exploring options like Mats Hummels. Al-Fayha, which finished 9th last season, aims to strengthen its squad with this acquisition, taking advantage of the extended Saudi transfer window that closes on September 2. Smalling's move marks the end of a significant chapter in his career, where he made over 150 appearances and contributed to Roma's success, including winning the 2022 Europa Conference League.
