Ajit Pawar to go on Yatra
Ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, two factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) are launching rival outreach campaigns. Sharad Pawar will kick off the 'Shivswarajya Yatra' on August 9 from Shivneri, aiming to highlight the alleged misdeeds of the BJP-led government, while Ajit Pawar's 'Jan Samman Yatra' will begin on August 8 from Dindori, focusing on promoting welfare schemes and engaging with voters across 39 constituencies. The two Yatras reflect the political tensions within the NCP, as Ajit Pawar's faction seeks to consolidate support ahead of the elections, targeting over 90 seats and positioning themselves as key players in government formation. Ajit Pawar's campaign emphasizes unity with alliance partners BJP and Shiv Sena, while Sharad Pawar's seeks to evoke regional pride and self-respect among voters. Both leaders are attempting to appeal to various demographics, including women, youth, and marginalized communities, while criticizing each other's strategies. The Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled for mid-October 2024.
