Swimmer advances to semifinals

Ukraine's women's saber fencing team advanced to the semi-finals of the Paris 2024 Olympics by defeating Italy 45-37, with fencers Olga Kharlan, Olena Kravatska, and Alina Komashchuk set to compete against Japan next. Kharlan, a 15-time world champion, previously secured a bronze medal in the women's individual saber event, making her one of Ukraine's most decorated Olympians. Meanwhile, U.S. swimmer Gretchen Walsh finished with the fourth-best time in the women's 50m freestyle prelims, advancing to the semifinals after already earning silver medals in the 100m butterfly and the 4x100 freestyle relay. Israeli swimmer Anastasia Gorbenko finished ninth in the women's 200m individual medley semifinal and did not advance, while she initially advanced from the heats by placing 11th. Additionally, Israeli swimmer Gal Cohen Groumi secured a spot in the men's 100m butterfly semifinal with a time of 51.30 seconds, while fellow Israeli Tomer Frankel did not advance.
