Gujarat Floods Claim 16 Lives, Prompt Rescues

Torrential rains in Gujarat have resulted in nine additional deaths, bringing the total death toll to 16 in just two days. The continuous rainfall has led to the rescue and relocation of approximately 8,500 individuals from flood-affected areas, with relief operations being conducted by the National Disaster Response Force, the Army, and the Indian Air Force, among others. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been in contact with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel to monitor the situation and ensure central government support. Most fatalities were due to wall collapses and drowning incidents in various districts, including Anand, Mahisagar, Kheda, and Ahmedabad. Over the past two days, more than 15,000 people have been evacuated, with significant numbers coming from Navsari and Vadodara. The Prime Minister has emphasized the importance of protecting lives and livestock during this crisis.
