Chaubey emphasized the cultural importance of the Durand Cup, which is the fourth oldest football tournament globally, and highlighted the numerous appeals he has received from fans requesting the matches to be held in Kolkata. Despite the unrest, the quarterfinals are set to proceed at alternative locations, including Shillong.
