Arsenal Pursues Wigan Goalkeeper Sam Tickle

Arsenal is actively pursuing a deal to sign Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Sam Tickle as the summer transfer window approaches its deadline. The 22-year-old, who has emerged as one of the best young talents in Britain, has made 58 appearances for Wigan since debuting in 2021, keeping 18 clean sheets last season and earning the Player of the Season award. With Aaron Ramsdale likely to depart and Karl Hein already loaned out, Arsenal seeks a third-choice goalkeeper who qualifies as homegrown, making Tickle an ideal candidate. His impressive distribution skills have contributed to Wigan’s recent successes, and he made his England U21 debut earlier this year. However, it remains uncertain whether Tickle would be willing to sacrifice regular first-team football in League One for a backup role at Arsenal. The Gunners have also considered other options, including Espanyol's Joan Garcia and Wolverhampton's Dan Bentley, but Tickle is currently their preferred choice.
