David Zhu, an Arizona State University professor, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder for allegedly shooting and killing his wife, Susan Yijuan Yan, at their Scottsdale home. The incident occurred on Saturday evening while their two teenage children were present. According to court documents, the children reported frequent domestic violence between their parents, and Zhu claimed he was trying to shoot the wall behind his wife. Yan was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Zhu, who has taught at ASU since 2009, has been placed on administrative leave and is prohibited from campus activities. The university and police have stated that this was an isolated incident and expressed condolences to those affected.
