Congress leaders suspended

Two Congress office-bearers in Indore, Surjit Singh Chaddha and Sadashiv Yadav, have been suspended for 'indiscipline' after they warmly welcomed Madhya Pradesh BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya at a party event. The suspension follows Vijayvargiya's visit on July 12, where he invited Congress leaders to a sapling plantation drive and engaged in informal discussions over tea and snacks. The Congress party's notice accused the leaders of undermining democratic values and dishonoring the party by hosting someone associated with significant electoral setbacks for Congress. Mukesh Nayak, head of the MP Congress media department, confirmed the suspension, highlighting a past incident where Vijayvargiya influenced Congress candidate Akshay Kanti Bam to withdraw his nomination, which led to Congress missing the Indore Lok Sabha race for the first time in 72 years. The notice required a response from Chaddha and Yadav within seven days, during which they remain suspended. The situation underscores internal tensions within the Congress party regarding its engagement with rival political figures.
