Australia Post Launches 175 Electric Motorbikes

Australia Post has launched a fleet of 175 new electric motorbikes, manufactured by UBCO Electric Utility Bikes, to enhance delivery efficiency and reduce environmental impact. Capable of reaching speeds up to 80 km/h, these bikes are designed to access routes that were previously challenging for traditional three-wheel electric delivery vehicles. The initiative is part of Australia Post's commitment to sustainability, aiming to lower emissions and operational costs while improving safety and customer service. CEO Paul Graham emphasized the significance of this launch as a 'pivotal moment' for the postal service, which already operates the largest electric delivery fleet in the country. UBCO Chief Executive Oliver Hutaff noted that the partnership has evolved from extensive trials in New Zealand, resulting in a vehicle tailored for high-use delivery scenarios. The bikes are expected to start delivering mail nationwide from next month.
