Ohio Launches $125 Million Innovation Hub
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has announced that Dayton will be the site of the state's second innovation hub, supported by $35 million in state funding and matching local and private investments totaling $60 million. The onMain Innovation Hub aims to foster collaboration among government, academia, and industry, focusing on digital transformation technologies, particularly in aviation and national defense. The initiative is part of the broader $125 million Ohio Innovation Hubs Program, designed to stimulate research and development, create jobs, and enhance economic conditions across the state. Governor DeWine highlighted the potential of the hub to position Dayton as a global leader in digital technology innovation. This follows the establishment of Ohio's first innovation hub in Northwest Ohio, aimed at leveraging the region's glass industry heritage. The presence of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is expected to further enhance Dayton's competitive edge in the program.
