Sergi Roberto Joins Como After Barcelona Exit
Former FC Barcelona captain Sergi Roberto has officially signed with newly-promoted Serie A club Como on a two-year contract after ending his 18-year association with Barcelona. The versatile midfielder, who made 373 appearances and won 20 trophies including two Champions League titles during his tenure, chose Como to reunite with his former teammate Cesc Fabregas, now the head coach. Despite interest from clubs like Ajax and Fiorentina, Roberto's decision was influenced by Fabregas's role in the club's ambitious project. His contract with Barcelona expired in June, and after waiting for a renewal that never materialized, he opted for a new challenge in Italy. Roberto is expected to undergo a medical examination before officially joining Como, who have also made other notable signings this summer, aiming to establish themselves in Serie A after a long absence. Como will be competing in the top flight of Italian football for the first time in 23 years.
