Telangana Chief Minister Seeks Sports University Funding

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has requested the Union government for financial assistance to establish a Sports University aimed at nurturing young athletes. In a meeting with Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Reddy also sought opportunities for Telangana to host major sporting events, including the Olympics and Khelo India Youth Games in 2025. He emphasized the state's existing infrastructure, citing successful hosting of past events like the National Games and Afro-Asian Games. The Chief Minister detailed plans for upgrading various sports facilities, including GMC Balayogi Stadium and University of Hyderabad’s shooting range, and requested increased funding under the Khelo India scheme. Accompanied by state officials, Reddy highlighted Telangana's commitment to providing world-class training and research in sports. The proposal aims to enhance the region's sporting capabilities and infrastructure significantly.
