11 Police Officers Killed in Punjab Attack
In a tragic incident in eastern Pakistan's Punjab province, at least 11 police officers were killed and several others injured when armed attackers launched a coordinated ambush using guns and rocket-propelled grenades. The attack occurred as the police convoy was returning from weekly duties in the Rahim Yar Khan district, where one of the vehicles malfunctioned in a deserted area, allowing the assailants to strike. Both the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of Punjab condemned the attack, with the latter promising decisive action against the outlaws responsible. The attack highlights a troubling increase in militant violence in Pakistan, particularly targeting law enforcement personnel. Notably, this incident marks one of the deadliest assaults on police in recent years, raising concerns over security in the region. Authorities have mobilized additional police forces to pursue the attackers and recover any hostages taken during the ambush.
