Elon Musk Criticizes Green Day's 'American Idiot' Lyrics

Elon Musk criticized Green Day for changing the lyrics of their song 'American Idiot' during a live performance to target Donald Trump and his supporters. Musk accused the band of 'raging for' the 'machine' after they inserted 'I'm not a part of the MAGA agenda' instead of the original, 'I'm not a part of the redneck agenda' in the song. Green Day has been vocal about their criticism of conservative politicians for decades and has released merchandise targeting Trump. Musk's criticism came as conservative pundits also blasted the band for the lyric swap. The billionaire has often advocated for small government and has in recent years aligned more with corners of conservative politics as he stepped up criticism of President Joe Biden’s administration. This isn't the first time that Green Day has used the MAGA lyric, having added it during the 2019 iHeartRadio festival. The band has also previously released a t-shirt with Trump’s iconic mugshot with the word 'nimrod' written in a circle covering his face, donating the proceeds of all sales to charity.
