Comedian D'yan Forest Attacked in West Village

D'yan Forest, the world's oldest working female comedian at 89 years old, was sucker-punched in an unprovoked attack in New York City's West Village on July 10 near the corner of Seventh Avenue and West 11th Street. An assailant, described as a woman with cornrow braids in a Jurassic Park shirt, punched Forest in the eye, causing her to fall to the ground. Forest, who was on her way to a gym, suffered a swollen and bruised eye and was treated at Lenox Hill Greenwich Village Hospital. Surveillance footage of the assailant has been released by the NYPD, who are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers. This attack is part of a troubling rise in unprovoked assaults in the city. Despite the trauma, Forest remains focused on her upcoming 90th birthday show.
