Singer James Morrison found his former partner, Gill Catchpole, dead at her home in Whitminster, Gloucestershire, on January 5 after a concerned friend saw a note on the door instructing to call the police. The inquest at Gloucestershire Coroner’s Court revealed Catchpole, 45, had been struggling with mental health issues, exacerbated by her and Morrison's split a year prior. Detective Sergeant David Kania confirmed there was no third-party involvement and noted several farewell notes addressed to family and friends. Catchpole had a history of depression, anxiety, and other health issues, including a recent kidney transplant, which contributed to her deteriorating mental state. Toxicology reports found a high level of alcohol in her system, although its impact on her actions was undetermined. The court concluded the cause of death as suicide.
