Swapnil Kusale in 50m Rifle
Swapnil Kusale made history by winning the bronze medal in the Men's 50m Rifle 3 Positions event at the 2024 Paris Olympics, becoming the first Indian shooter to achieve this milestone. He scored a total of 451.4 points in the final, finishing behind gold medalist Liu Yukun of China and silver medalist Serhiy Kulish of Ukraine. This victory marks India's third medal in the Paris Olympics, all of which have come from shooting events, following earlier bronzes won by Manu Bhaker. Kusale's qualification for the final was a significant achievement, as he was the first Indian to do so in this event, despite past near misses in international competitions. His journey reflects dedication and skill, having previously secured a quota place at the 2022 World Championship and gold at the 2022 Asian Games team event. Kusale's accomplishment highlights India's growing prowess in the sport of shooting.
