This situation follows a wave of violence against the Hindu community after Sheikh Hasina's resignation, which has led to daily attacks and harassment from Islamist groups, particularly targeting educators. Reports suggest that around 60 Hindu teachers and professionals have been coerced into resigning recently. Muhammad Yunus, the interim head of Bangladesh’s government, has pledged to protect minority populations, but critics view his assurances as ineffective amidst ongoing violence.
